BSi PAS125 Thatcham Kitemark
A standard for the Accident Repair Sector
FEBRUARY 2007 - LAUNCH DATE
A New Vision for Accident Crash Repair
Thatcham partnered by the BSI and in collaboration with a number of key
industry players have now completed work on developing a universal PAS
(Publicly Available Specification) for the body repair industry, which
will form the basis of the Bodyshop Kitemark Scheme.
The aim is to allow the body repair industry to
benchmark their services and working practices and in so doing
demonstrate an ongoing
commitment to the quality and integrity of
repairs.
A Publicly Available Specification (PAS) can be seen as a major step in
the process of standardisation. It includes useful and practical
information and can be made available quickly to suit
the market need of the developers and users of the PAS. While it may not
have the
full breadth of agreement of a standard, the speed of
delivery and the high calibre quality of the content enables users of
the PAS to
reap significant benefit.
Repairing modern, technologically advanced accident damaged motor vehicles has never been
more challenging. The crash repair industry has to deal with new vehicle construction techniques and associated
exotic materials, whilst trying to address
skills shortages and balance numerous compliance criteria from work
providers and trade bodies. The industry has, therefore, recognised the
need for a robust cross industry standard to ensure the efficient,
effective and safe repair of motor vehicles as a platform for business
improvement.
